1. What is Sculptra®?	Derived from fruit acids, Sculptra® is a biocompatible and biodegradable injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid.  It is cosmetically proven as a facial volumizer that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen.
2. How does Sculptra® work?	Unlike the filler products that temporarily correct skin imperfections, Sculptra® naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen, resulting in a more natural-looking, youthful appearance that can last up to 2 years. Sculptra® is injected under the skin in the area of fat and volume loss. Sculptra® helps lift, smooth and firm-up your skin gradually because it stimulates the production of your own collagen. Visible results appear naturally and progressively after each treatment session. Sculptra® does not correct the underlying cause of the lipoatrophy.
3. Is Sculptra® a safe product?	Yes, Sculptra® is a very safe product. It has been widely used in humans for over 30 years in dissolvable sutures and many types of implants.
4. How many treatments are required?	Generally, 2-3 treatment sessions over a 10 week period may be necessary to obtain the desired results. It may take as many as 6 treatments for patients with severe facial volume loss. Dr. Biskin will decide on the appropriate number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra® required at each session.
5. How long will my treatment session take?	Each Sculptra® treatment session generally takes about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas needing treatment and the effects desired.
6. Are Sculptra® injections painful?	Prior to injections, a topical anesthetic is generously applied to the skin. An ultra-fine needle is utilized and injections are combined with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort.
7. Are the results of Sculptra® seen immediately?	No. After your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra® takes time to gradually correct the depressions in your skin by stimulating natural collagen production, creating long lasting results. Dr. Biskin will see you again in a few weeks to decide if more Sculptra® is required.
8. How long will the effects of Sculptra® last?	Treatment effects differ from person to person. In many cases, treatment results can last for up to 2 years. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
9. What are the side effects of Sculptra®?	Common side effects include: · Redness, tenderness, bruising, swelling at the injection site · Delayed appearance of small bumps under the skin Less common side effects include: · Infection · Ulceration · Scarring
10. Are the results guaranteed?	The practice of medicine and surgery is not an exact science, and therefore, reputable practitioners cannot guarantee results.
